The Lisbon Must-See
sites to visit in Half a Day
The Lisbon Must-See Tour experience is a 3 hour private guided walking tour that covers the best things to do in Lisbon. From the cultural district of Chiado to the bohemian nightlife of Bairro Alto, from the cosmopolitan plazas of Downtown Lisbon to the picturesque streets of Alfama, we cover it all. This Lisbon Half Day Tour will show you Lisbon’s top attractions while giving you a local perspective and feeling to this incredible city. If what you’re looking for is to take in Lisbon’s atmosphere and grace in just half a day this is definitely the perfect choice for you. There's a ton of things to do in Lisbon so our Take Lisboa skilled guides selected the Lisbon Must-See sites to visit in Half a Day. We will begin our Lisbon Must-See Tour at the heart of the city, Chiado. Chiado is the inescapable neighborhood where century-old shops like the world's oldest bookstore, Bertrand, live next door to designer stores. In Chiado are historical cafés like A Brasileira, centenary theatres like São Carlos, or memories of big names in literature like Camões or Pessoa. The Chiado district is an elegant and bustling space that has always marked the history and politics of the capital, and to visit it is to visit what many call the Montmartre of Lisbon. Bairro Alto is our next stop. If there is one neighborhood that is synonymous with nightlife in Lisbon, it is Bairro Alto. There are hundreds of restaurants, cafés, bars, clubs and nightclubs for all tastes and moods. With more than 500 years of history, Bairro Alto was once a neighborhood of pilots and cartographers, home of the Jesuits in Portugal, choice of the high nobility and headquarters of several newspapers. It is this history and so many stories of Lisbon that we will share along its narrow streets. Next to the church of São Roque, we will take the opportunity to admire the panoramic view from the viewpoint of São Pedro de Alcântara. This site offers all: the irregular houses of the old districts, the perpendicularity of Baixa Pombalina, the walls of São Jorge Castle, the river Tejo. We will then cross Downtown Lisbon after looking at the Carmo Convent and Church and visiting the top of the Elevator of Santa Justa and present some of Lisbon’s most important historical moments like the great earthquake of 1755 and the Carnation Revolution of 1974. Our journey continues through the streets of Alfama where every corner is a postcard. The uneven streets, the century-old houses, the tiled façades, the flower balconies, everything in Alfama is incredibly picturesque and traditional. Alfama is the oldest neighborhood in the country and to visit it is to know the most authentic and genuine Lisbon. We will conclude our visit in the Rua Augusta Arch, not before visiting Lisbon's Sé Cathedral. With the Tagus River as our companion we will end the tour on a high note. The Lisbon Must-See tour is a rite of initiation to the center of Lisbon, its historical landmarks and sites, the black and white cobblestones, the hand painted ceramic tiles, its picturesque balconies and romantic viewpoints. The weather in Lisbon is perfect for an urban walking tour even during the Winter. A private walking tour, set at your preferred pace, is the best possible way to feel the city. Your expert guide will be with at all times sharing his passion for Lisbon and doing his best for you to enjoy Lisbon in a fun and informative way. We want you to have an amazing journey in Lisbon, a walk to remember. Nothing beats the advice and tips from a friend that lives in Lisbon.
